AI2U: With You 'Til The End — How to Get Past the Catgirl in the Apartment

Learn how to get past the Catgirl in AI2U: With You 'Til The End. Find the key, unlock the exit door, and escape the apartment with this step-by-step guide.

Overview

Getting past the Catgirl in AI2U: With You 'Til The End means escaping her apartment during the first main level. You need to find the Apartment Key, unlock the exit door, and reach the lobby without letting her catch you. If she kills you before the door is unlocked, you get the "Killed by the catgirl without unlocking the door" ending. If she catches you after the door is open, you get "Failed to outrun the angry catgirl."

This guide gives you the fastest reliable route through the Catgirl's Apartment, with recovery steps if she catches you or you miss a clue.

Requirements

Before you start, understand what you're working with:

  • The apartment layout is randomized. The master bedroom, hallway bathroom, and gaming room always connect to the main hallway. The fourth room — the "special room" — is randomly one of four options: Indoor Garden, Music Room, Art Studio, or Guest Bedroom.
  • The Apartment Key location is randomized. You can find it in one of two ways: check the Catgirl's email on the computer in the gaming room, or find the 4-digit code revealed by the bathroom mirror.
  • The bathroom mirror code is random. Only one of the two bathrooms (master bedroom or hallway) will have the code. Turn on the hot water to fog up the mirror and reveal it.
  • The computer password is the Catgirl's favorite food, which changes every playthrough. You need to discover it through conversation or by exploring the kitchen sticky notes.
  • The exit door is in the living room. Interacting with it while the Catgirl is nearby makes her angry, so time your escape carefully.

Steps to Get Past the Catgirl

Follow these steps in order. The whole run can be completed in under two minutes once you know what to look for.

Step 1: Learn the Apartment Layout

You spawn in the living room. From here you can reach:

  • Kitchen — contains the stove, fridge, and sticky notes with recipes.
  • Main hallway — leads to the bathroom, master bedroom, gaming room, and the random special room.
  • Exit door — in the living room, to the left of the TV.

Walk through the main hallway to map out where each room is. Note which special room you got — it doesn't matter for the escape route, but it affects where the Catgirl might be when you're searching.

Step 2: Find the Apartment Key Location

You have two ways to locate the key. Do whichever is faster based on where the Catgirl is.

Option A: Check the computer in the gaming room.

  1. Go to the gaming room.
  2. Turn on the computer. It will ask for a password.
  3. The password is the Catgirl's favorite food. Check the sticky notes on the fridge and near the stove in the kitchen for recipe hints, or ask her directly in conversation.
  4. Once logged in, open her email. You'll find a picture showing where the Apartment Key is.

Option B: Use the bathroom mirror.

  1. Go to either the master bedroom bathroom or the hallway bathroom.
  2. Turn on the hot water at the sink. The mirror will fog up.
  3. Only one of the two bathrooms has the code. If you don't see a code, try the other bathroom.
  4. The 4-digit code opens the hallway keypad, which leads to the Secret Room.
  5. Inside the Secret Room, check the security footage monitors. They show the location of the Apartment Key.

Important: If you interact with the mirror while the Catgirl is in the same room, she may notice and get nervous. This doesn't fail your run, but it can make her more suspicious.

Step 3: Retrieve the Apartment Key

Once you know where the key is, go get it. The key spawns in a consistent location each playthrough, but that location changes between runs. Common spots include drawers in the master bedroom, the kitchen cabinets, or the guest bedroom wardrobe.

If you're having trouble finding it, check every interactable drawer and cabinet in the room where the computer or security footage indicated.

Step 4: Unlock the Exit Door

With the key in hand, return to the living room. The exit door is on the left side of the room, near the TV.

  • Interact with the door to unlock it.
  • If the Catgirl is in the same room, she may get angry and try to stop you. If she's nearby, wait until she leaves the room before unlocking.

Step 5: Run to the Lobby

Once the door is unlocked:

  1. Open the exit door and head to the apartment staircase.
  2. Go down to the apartment lobby.
  3. Walk toward the bright exit at the end of the lobby.

If the Catgirl notices you leaving, she will chase you. You need to outrun her. The lobby is a straight shot, so sprint toward the exit without stopping.

Common Mistakes

These are the most frequent ways players fail to get past the Catgirl:

MistakeWhat HappensHow to Recover
Unlocking the door while she's watchingShe gets angry and may attack you immediatelyWait for her to leave the living room before interacting with the door
Missing the bathroom mirror codeYou can't open the Secret Room to see the key locationCheck the other bathroom — only one has the code
Guessing the computer passwordYou waste time and she might find youFind her favorite food by asking her or checking kitchen notes
Searching rooms while she's nearbyShe follows you and may block your pathMove to a different room, wait for her to leave, then return
Stopping in the lobbyShe catches up and kills youKeep moving — the exit is at the end of the lobby, don't stop until you reach it

If the Catgirl kills you, you'll restart the level. The layout and key location will be re-randomized, so you'll need to find the clues again. There's no penalty for restarting — it's the intended loop.

Advanced Tips

  • Use the dodgeball minigame to buy time. The TV in the gaming room lets you play a dodgeball minigame against the Catgirl. This can distract her while you slip away to search other rooms.
  • Cook food to restore HP. If the Catgirl damages you, the stove in the kitchen can make Baked Potato or Tomato and Egg Stirfry. Both restore 1 HP. Recipes are on sticky notes near the fridge and stove.
  • Pay attention to her dialogue. The Catgirl will sometimes accidentally reveal information about the key or the code during conversation. If you're stuck, talk to her — but be careful not to push her too far.
  • The Secret Room has a bulletin board. It shows people connected to your in-game name. This isn't required for the escape, but it's worth checking if you're exploring for anomalies.
  • Watch for the anomaly in the master bedroom. If the master bedroom generates in the top right corner of the hallway, a dark blue parrot will peek from behind the Secret Room and stare at you. This is an anomaly, not a threat — but it confirms you're in the right area.
